Visiting the UAE

My mom in front of the Burj Khalifa – Dubai, UAE

It’s been quite the week.

I’m back in Abu Dhabi after a restful summer in Canada and the States. My lovely mom can back with me to the UAE and stayed eight days. Because my mom is full of energy and I wanted her to see everything, from the time we landed, we hit the ground running even in 117 degrees. Oh man, it was hot on top of hot. It felt like someone was following you around with a Dominican Blow Dryer on high.

We started her vacation with a trip to the spa for mani/pedis and we then tried an Iranian Restaurant that was just delicious. In between, we went to the Colombiano Cafe (see previous post) in the sky tower of Marina Mall.

Thereafter, we dined out, saw the sites, and made our way through two Emirates.  With that, I finally tried a restaurant version of fried macaroni and cheese. It was a pretty good appetizer that can be a meal if you add a side salad.

The rest of the vacation was a blur because we were going and going. Of course we had a trip to Dubai  seeing: The Dubai Mall, Ski Dubai, Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Chill Out Cafe, Ikea Dubai, and a few other malls.

We ended the vacation with a trip to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Needless to say, I’m tired and want a day in but of course, I’ve missed my Ash and Abu Dhabi pals, so I believe Saturday afternoon will be a sleep fest.

Have a great weekend loves and tell me, what’s on your agenda this weekend?
