Brunch at Market Kitchen Abu Dhabi

Market Kitchen Abu Dhabi

The last 10 days were an absolute joy, my mother came to visit us in Abu Dhabi.

This was her second visit, so we laid low a bit and indulged in a few restaurants that I wanted to try for some time.

The buzz about great brunches in Abu Dhabi is always loud. Engaging in the brunch scene is one of the ways to enjoy friends and network with other expats. Market Kitchen ranked high among expat favorites, so of course I had to check it out to see if it met Reginia’s great brunch standards.

Market Kitchen Entrance

Market Kitchen is located one block from the corniche in the Le Royal Meridian Hotel.  Le Royal Meridian is host to several Friday brunches, be sure to specify Market Kitchen when making your reservation.

The gorgeous aesthetics are most noted upon entering. The mid-century decor was quite charming. The decor invited inquiry about its impeccable style and welcome. We were immediately seated as we had reservations. Reservations are best at most Abu Dhabi and Dubai brunches.

The delightful team of servers welcomed us and offered assistance with selecting a beverage since it was our first time dining.

I selected the Strawberry Chamomile and my mom selected the Lemon Thyme Lemonade though it tasted a bit like ginger.

While we looked over the menu and sipped on our drinks, we began the “party” with a little bread and butter. Yep, that’s right, bread gets us going. Who knew!

Market Kitchen Menu

One of the differences about Market Kitchen and many brunches in Abu Dhabi is that the courses are set (listed on the right side of the menu) versus the usual buffet. I’d read prior that the menu was heavy on seafood which made me a bit hesitant. There were two levels of brunch: with or without alcohol. I guess we could have scored drinks but turning up with mom is never a good deal.

The first two courses were seafood inspired, so I sat and watched my mom enjoy.

Tuna Tartar with Ginger Dressing and Chili Oil

Seared Omani Prawn, Mint Yoghurt, Soy, and Radish

Crispy Sushi with Chipotle Mayonnaise

Thereafter, things were great. We enjoyed:

Creamy Tomato Soup

Hammour over Brussels Sprouts

By the time dessert came, Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream, Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sundae, and Cheesecake with Raspberry Sorbet, we were both stuffed. I didn’t expect so much food. Oh man, all of the dishes we well prepared, presented, and seasoned to perfection. I expected a nice meal but left completely wow’d. Wow’d is a word right. If not, it is in this post. In addition to great food and a pleasing atmosphere, patrons are soothed with live jazz.

Market Kitchen’s Friday Brunch begins at 12:30. I’d suggest RSVP before 1 as brunch ends at 3:30. Patrons should be encouraged to wear smart casual attire and leave the beach fittings at home or in your room.
